Lola King and the Kickstarts - I Left My Heart in England
Despite that time of year having come round again where I get to troll through the Home Office's tortuous website and maneuver the mine-field that is the UK visa renewal process thus incurring in me a rather rancorous feeling towards a certain Kingdom, all this bombardment of London looking particularly sunny and cheerful from the ranks of NBC day in day out, has got me feeling a little bit, er, home-away-from-homesick. So when my dear friend Terence Webb (you will know him as the Fashionographer, who shoots as often as anyone for me and this site and has now evolved into a video whiz) sent me a link to a new video he's done with London band Lola King & The Kickstarts, the thing stuck poignantly in my head like London drizzle to an umbrella. The rooftops of Kensington...the grey drizzle...genetic acquiescence to the importance of Earl Grey...hell, even Queenie. So as I roam the sun-drenched streets of lower Manhattan, I kind of can't help by hum to myself, "I left my heart in England..."
