Venetian Interlude

 

You may have noticed I've been somewhat absent from my blogging duties and late and tweeting from Grand Canal instead of le Grand Catwalk...I skipped London Fashion Week to attend to a sad personal matter in Venice. But in my stead I sent photographer extraordinaire Jay McLaughlin and Eddy's evil Libra twin Aine Pandora off with my tickets and their SLRs, so I'll still be able to bring you show coverage. 

In the meantime, here are a few photos from bella Venezia, which, as it happened by chance, was in the penultimate throes of Carnivale when I arrived. There's nothing like a hearty helping of filigree-feathered masks, velvet capes, powdered wigs and plenty of glitter to cut through the apparent gloom and remind you that every cloud, no matter how seemingly sad, is lined not with silver, but bursts of colour: Ciao bello ciao bello ciao...
