Occupy Fashion Week

I wanted to draw your attention to something. I've recently been reading "Death of the Liberal Class" by Chris Hedges (which I STRONGLY recommend for those of left-inclined mind), so imagine my serendipitous surprise when I was browsing Hedges' column on TruthDig to discover the above video commenting on the "nuanced relationship between fashion and OWS [Occuty Wall Street]." While this is not an appropriate space for me to grind my various political and social axes, I do think, given that I was accosted (not that I minded) by a handful of confetti courtesy the "Occupy Fashion Week" protesters gathered outside Calvin Klein on the last day of NYFW (see below post), I can't refrain from sharing this video with you. It is at once a poignant portrait of our industry and its place in the wider world, within a specifically American and even more nuanced New York context. It is not often, in thee oversharing days of social media, for those of us so far down the fashion rabbit hole to get such a clear picture of our industry as seen from the outside. And I don't mean the outside that wants in. So I urge you to take 10 minutes out of your day and watch this film, contemplate what it's trying to say and form your OWN OPINIONS thereafter.

a very thought provoking piece, some of the viewpoints shared, especially on how you can see a difference in some of the runway shows on how clothes are presented and the looks that were created, is definitely something that i would not have paid much attention too.  thanks for sharing :).
