New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012: Mamma Whisperer at Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe, super stylist for super celebs such as Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Anna Hathaway, launched her her first collection last fall. She did her first "runway" show during the NYFW this Saturday, yes, the reality queen is becoming a full-fledged designer! And after seeing the strength of the collection, I was surprised to find out she does not have any formal design training.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit her showroom this Monday which is located on a high floor of a midtown skyscraper, very New York. Her showroom's entrance area is decorated with many white, beautiful flowers instead of the reception desk! What a wonderful ad chic idea! You feel like you stepped into the world of zen-simple and stylish.

Her collection is inspired by "fantasy and the glamour of London in the '60's and '70's" according to her interview with New York Times. The celebs in her mind are the '60's icons such as Marianne Faithfull, Bianca Jagger, Jane Birkin and so on. As Mamma Whisperer, that is very all too familiar (unfortunately) and nostalgic! The world was coming out of the post-war era and was about to enter the new revolutionary "counter culture" post modernism era in music, art and fashion!

When I was in London last fall during the LFW, I spotted Rachel Zoe sitting in the front row at fashion show at Tate Modern. I remember she was wearing a fur jacket. Now, looking back, she must have been wearing her own collection as there was so much fantastic fur. VOILA!!!

Thanks to lovely Lucy's kind assistance, I dared to try this black fox fur shawl as well as her faux fur animal print jacket!! And I asked Lucy to hold one of the black mini dress which I though looks perfect on her. Thanks, Lucy! I had a lot of fun!

Rachel's Fall 2012 collection is very wearable and appealing to the high power professional women to the Park Avenue madams, I thought. Next time I am at Bergdorf Goodman, I know where to go!!!
