Et in Arcadia Ego 3: Topshop Fall 2010 Collection

Always save the best for last. Topshop's selection for Fall 2010 is a true High Street miracle, a gift to shopaholic recessionistas everywhere. With metal fringed dresses, moth-eaten and chainmail detailed sweats, spiked gilets and a whole lot more, the prized jewel in the Arcadia Group's crown is ready to meet the autumnal onslaught fully armed with on trend, easy to wear, ultra cool pieces.

There were shearling shag coats and mini-fleece backpacks, sequins and crystal encrusted sheer leggings--all the more exciting trends from the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalks with non of the scary price tags. I just feel like every season I've lived here, Topshop rises ever more so to the occasion (or maybe I'm just becoming more and more sartorially anglicized). And this season's collection is no exception. It really fleshes out some of Autumn Winter's  tougher trends, which is really what the high street should be about. Sure you want to be able to have your Gaps and your American Apparels, the sure fire go-to's for basics galore, but at the end of the day, fashion is about fun and experimentation. Since not everyone has a spare £1.5K lying around to test-drive a shredded bride of Frankenstein Rodarte gown because we're intrigued by the look and want to give it a go (and for those of us Transatlantic, the love affair between Rodarte, Target and Tavi is of no consequence).

Enter Topshop to the rescue, a playhouse full of avant garde trend fun. Since many of this season's trends are grunge-inspired anyway, there really is no reason to shell out £700 for a moth-eaten blazer from Diesel Black Gold when squirreling one away at Grandma's for the weekend will do the trick, or Topshop offers a version for £60. This is a season with  strong trend identity, some of it will be impossible to wear in a year's time, hence the phrase value-for-money should lead you straight to the shrine at Oxford Circus. Mix and match, layer a sheer sequin mesh top underneath an LBD you already own, pile on the fuzz in the form of faux shearling be it booties, backpack or jacket, or layer a holey top over a dress or even a white button up shirt for a totally updated look. When it comes to high street in this country, in my opinion, Topshop is king--long may he live.

Looks AMAZING! ooooh I can't wait. I loved the Unique show, I always do. But it looks like they have some really juicy pieces this season. Let's jus thope it's not mayhem trying to get them! I HATE that Oxford Circus "shrine." LOL, more like a place for human sacrifice.
