Lolita in Wonderland by Pat Lyttle

Whilst I was busy champagning it up at Gucci in Milan, our favorite photographer Pat hit a Gothic Lolita party in the East End and took some truly gorg shots. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the term, as I was despite being half Japanese shamefully was until Pat shone the beacon of street style know-how in the darkness of my clumsy (and lazy) American ways, I shall let Wikipedia and Pat (the walking talking wiki) explain:

Wiki:  Lolita fashion (ロリータ・ファッション Rorīta fasshon) is a fashion subculture originating in Japan that is primarily influenced by Victorian clothing as well as costumes from the Rococo period.Lolita has made this into a unique fashion by adding gothic and original design elements to the look. From this, Lolita fashion has evolved into several different sub styles and has created a devoted subculture in Japan. The Lolita look consists primarily of a knee length skirt or dress, headdress, blouse, petticoat, knee high socks or stockings and rocking horse or high heel/platform shoes.

**NB I LOVE how Wiki's pronunciation guide for the term is spelled "Ro-ri-ta."

Pat: "There's a very large comunity of Loli goths as they are also known within the UK & is growing in popularity outside of Japan thanks pretty much to the success of the movie Kamikaze Girls or as know in Japan Shimotsuma Monogatari with popular actress Kyoko Fukada. Since that movie Lolita style really went global. Rie Kawabuko did a no compromise design set for H&M about a year or so ago. It sold out globally within 48 hours."

I personally love the images of the girl in the pink dress with the teacup, eat your heart out, Alice by Temperley.

The images were shot at the Resistance in London. ALL © Pat Lyttle
