Sale Stalker: Liberation of the wallet at Liberty

mmm...mmm..the sweet taste of life, love and LIBERTY at sale time. For the sake of assuaging my shopaholic's conscience, which somehow only begins to nag guiltily at me upon divulging my shopping sins to the world, I have postponed this post til now. Otherwise, had I let it ride on the tail of the Selfridges' Boxing Day entry, you would have been exposed to the full breadth of my fiscal transactions, which would leave me pathetically hanging my whispering head as I tally up to pay this month's rent.

Besides, even though this sale was stalked on Boxing Day, Liberty, being the fashionista's department store, i.e. a haven for the bit more hardcore than Selfridges' consumer at large (i.e. true fashion labels like Margiela, Comme and Rick Owens vs DVF, Malene Birger and See by Chloe...perfect for sculpting out your fashion week uniforms), chances are, some of the pickings, or at least the genre of pickings will still be waiting on the shelves just for you, even at this late sale date.

So here's the recon on Liberty, Boxing Day 2009.

Dress, Acne was £300 down from £600
I loved this strong shouldered Acne mini...could have been a great twist on the LBD for my NYFW wardrobe. Too bad it was so mini I could not sit down in it without giving the world a taste of the Whisperer Gone Wild...PASS

Comme for Converse £35 down from £70
Um....the polka dotted Comme converse for less than a pair of flip flops at Office? Plan to wear with EVERYTHING. NO BRAINER.

Martin Margiela white fringed tee, £87.50 down from £155
You can never go wrong with classic Margiela. This t-shirt dress is edgey cool with a deconstructed casual flair. Wear as dress with Converse in teh summer, or layer under chunky knits and leggins in the winter. That's Margiela for you, seasonless, classic, and oh so cool....MUST

Acne Wrong Shoulder Padded 2 Layer Dress, £247.50 down from £495
This Acne dress was so sweet and simple. Could have been a great piece in summer, even though layering under a sharp black blazer or soft cashmere could have rendered it lovely for this time of year...its simplicity thought not in a timeless staple kind of way combined with its still hefty price tag (Margiela for less than £100 or Acne for £250) ...SKIP

Comme de Garcons Drop Crotch Wool Pants, £182.50 down from £365
Comme drop crotch wonders...woolen and fab, oh so comfortable and so on trend. Yet, being the offspring of Ms.Kawakubo, its shelf life due to its precise cut and minute attention to detail will far outstrip any of its Ashishy counterparts, seeing you through at least two more seasons of shows. A true fashionista can hardly ever go wrong with Garcons...INVEST

Martin Margiela Tulip Wool Trouser, £127.50 down from £255
Loved loved loved these slouchy Margiela trousers. Problem, they only size left was a 14...and thought it was certainly workable in a fantastically cool way hiked with a belt...that was the ONLY way I'd be able to wear them (at least until a month of straight holiday eating catches up with me)...LEAVE BEHIND (RELUCTANT SIGH)

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Tiger shirt, £80 down from £200
Westwood, quirky, comfortable...LIKE, DUH

Opening Ceremony slouchy knit sweater, approx £175 down from £400
New fav brand of mine...I've been hankering to get my hands on some Opening Ceremony for some time now. Just don't feel justified in spending the money...but slash those tags in half, now there's a ceremony for which I'll certainly open my wallet... SCORE

love the shoulder cut out detail oh so much

Marc Jacobs logo printed duffle bag, £120 down from £240
In violation of my NO AMERICAN BRANDS to be purchased abroad rule, this Marc bag was just too good to pass up. Made of plastic, it's to be my new kit bag for shoots (i.e. if makeup spills, it's no prob). Although the straps are a bit too flimsy for any real travel (not how I pack, anyway), for the price, I could not resist...GUILTY PURCHASE
