Hail to NYC at Holly Fulton SS10

Holly Fulton is without a doubt one of my favorite new comers on the scene. When she debuted her collection at Fashion East last season, many of her quirky plastic piece shifts were immediately called into our offices at Vogue Russia to be shot immediately. With her quirky style and bursts of bright, sparkly color, Fulton's designs are perky in a time when designers have pretty much been anything but.

To my delight, for SS10, Fulton has dedicated her collection to the best architecture of the best city in the world: good old Gotham. The familiar squares and rectangles of the Empire State, the geometrically triangular splendor of the Chrysler building and, best of all, twinkling lights of the city at night are all captured in Fulton's dresses, the patriot in me wants to purchase them all immediately. New this season? A selection of funky clutches, perfect for a fun night out on the town with the girls--though the little house print is vaguely Henry Holland-esque. My only complaint? The collection, cool though it may be, is virtually indistinguishable from last season. If you're gonna make it, Holly, as this New Yorker sincerely hopes you do, you're gonna need to branch out from the one note. Even if that note is my beloved NYC.
