Another night of fashion converging with art, Paradise Row's salon at Sketch last week was a very Shoreditchy amalgam of the fabulous, the conceptually bizarre and tranny trendy transplanted into the heart of Mayfair. The fashion pretext for the evening was the lure of JC Castelbajac's paintings on display, and when I say paintings, I mean the chance to rub shoulders with the designer himself. To the disappointment of the pseudo-fashion/art connoisseurs flocking around the bar actually paying for their cocktails, JC never showed. At least, in the manner of his divine namesake, we can always hope for a Second Coming.
Guests were treated to an array of tantilizations for the eyes and ears, and for those sitting near the front, a simulated saliva shower from the weird foam face masked Archimoldo Singers, giving new meaning to the phrase "say it don't spray it." There was also poetry readings by Amanda Eliasch and the legendary Anthony Haden-Guest and a soul stirring performance on the keyboard by Harriet Rock & Her Two Hands.
